An Example Of Good Practice - 796 Words

In this assignment I shall be reflecting on an example from my working experience that I believe to be an example of good practice in working with children. I will be reflecting on the use of my communication skills, as I believe this is what shaped my good practice. I have chosen this specific event to reflect on as I spent a significant amount of time interacting with this particular child by communicating verbally and nonverbally to meet his needs. To achieve this I will use Gibbs’ reflective cycle (Gibbs, 1998), this cycle consists of six stages and this will assist me to describe my good practice and to develop and learn from it for improved practice in the future. The cycle starts with firstly describing my event, secondly saying what my feelings were at the time, thirdly evaluating my experience, fourthly is critically analysing It, fifth is concluding the event by stating what I have learnt and lastly what I would do if this situation took place again. Reflection is the purpose of this assignment and according to Bolton (2010) it is a detailed thought of events of what one encountered and it includes what they experienced, their feelings at the time and the people involved in it, thru this it means one is re-experiencing the event and replaying it from different perspectives.
